The Devotion
Devotion to Saint Michael the Archangel
Devotion to Saint Michael the Archangel honors the heavenly defender of God's people and the leader of the angelic hosts in their struggle against evil.
Saint Michael appears in Sacred Scripture, including the Book of Daniel, the Letter of Jude, and the Book of Revelation. In Revelation, he is depicted leading the angels in battle against the dragon, representing the defeat of evil through the power of God.
His name, Michael, means “Who is like God?” — a declaration of God's supreme majesty and authority.
Throughout Christian history, Saint Michael has been invoked for protection, strength, and perseverance in spiritual struggles. One of the most familiar expressions of this devotion is the Prayer to Saint Michael, composed under Pope Leo XIII and widely recited by Catholics.
The Defender of the Faith Rosary reflects this tradition of spiritual courage, calling the faithful to remain steadfast in their love for Christ.

The solid bronze Saint Michael centerpiece honors the Archangel traditionally revered as the defender of God's people and leader of the heavenly hosts. Its ornate, shield-shaped design reflects the themes of spiritual protection, courage, and steadfast faith.
In the Book of Revelation, Saint Michael leads the angels in battle against the dragon, representing the struggle against Satan and the forces of evil. His name, meaning Who is like God?, proclaims the supreme authority of God over all creation.
The shield-shaped centerpiece is particularly fitting for Defender of the Faith, recalling the spiritual armor described by St. Paul and the Christian call to remain firm in truth and righteousness. Its antiqued bronze finish complements the natural patterns of Petrified Wood and the golden reflections of Tiger's Eye.

The solid bronze Trinity crucifix recalls the central mystery of the Christian faith: one God in three divine Persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The Crucifixion reveals the love of the Father, who sends His Son for the salvation of mankind, and the Son's willing sacrifice in obedience to the Father's will. The work of redemption is inseparable from the Holy Spirit, through whom the faithful are drawn into communion with God.
The Trinity crucifix complements the Saint Michael centerpiece by reminding the faithful that spiritual strength and victory over evil come ultimately from God.
Together, these components express the meaning of Defender of the Faith: courage rooted in the Holy Trinity, trust in the victory of Christ, and confidence in Saint Michael's intercession.
About the Gemstones
Petrified Wood
Petrified Wood begins as ancient plant material that becomes mineralized over geological time.
As wood is buried and exposed to mineral-rich groundwater, silica and other minerals can gradually preserve or replace portions of its original structure. In favorable conditions, even fine details of the wood's grain and cellular patterns remain visible.
The resulting stone can display remarkable combinations of brown, cream, red, gray, and golden tones, depending on the minerals involved.
Each bead carries patterns shaped by both the original wood and the geological processes that preserved it. Petrified Wood offers a unique connection to natural history, with a depth of texture that makes every piece distinctive.
Tiger's Eye
Tiger's Eye is a variety of quartz recognized for its golden-brown color and distinctive optical shimmer.
Its most celebrated characteristic is chatoyancy, a shifting band of reflected light created by aligned fibrous inclusions within the stone. When polished and rotated under light, this effect can resemble the movement of a cat's eye.
Tiger's Eye has long been used in jewelry and decorative objects because of its warm color and unusual brilliance.
Each bead displays varying combinations of honey gold, bronze, and dark brown. These natural-looking bands create an attractive contrast with wooden or earth-toned gemstones and traditional metal components.

This is my second rosary from these folks, and I'm just as happy with this one as the first.
Each rosary has a different character, and it goes beyond just the color and the difference in medals and crucifixes. The stones themselves have a different character.
For example, the Sacred Heart rosary, the green beads have an earthy and materially different quality to them when you hold them. They're polished and smooth, but they're not shiny or glossy.
Whereas this one, the beads are polished and shiny and it gives them a more reflective kind of quality to them that is difficult to describe. They almost shimmer, while the other rosary they're more muted. And they're both brilliant in their own ways.

The Defender of the Faith Rosary is well made. The beads are significantly duller than the website photograph. Virtually no yellow or white/light colored beads. The larger beads were mostly dark colored with faint yellow markings.

Because each Defender of the Faith rosary is handcrafted using natural stone beads, every piece will feature unique variation in color, pattern, and distribution. Some rosaries may contain more prominent lighter tones and contrast, while others may lean darker and more subdued depending on the natural characteristics of the stones selected.
Natural stone can also appear differently depending on lighting conditions, with brighter natural light often bringing out additional depth, contrast, and color variation within the beads.
