Devotion to the Two Hearts of Jesus and Mary unites contemplation of Christ's infinite love with the Blessed Virgin Mary's perfect response to that love. The Sacred Heart of Jesus represents the mercy, charity, and sacrifice through which He redeemed mankind, while the Immaculate Heart of Mary reflects her purity, faithfulness, and maternal concern for the salvation of souls.

This devotion has deep roots in Catholic tradition and was especially promoted by St. John Eudes during the seventeenth century. Through his writings and preaching, he encouraged the faithful to honor the Hearts of Jesus and Mary together, recognizing their profound relationship within the mystery of salvation.

The Two Hearts are traditionally represented with distinct symbols: Christ's Heart crowned with thorns and surmounted by the Cross, and Mary's Heart often pierced by a sword and adorned with roses.

The Two Hearts symbolize Christ's boundless redeeming love and His Mother's perfect response through purity, obedience, and maternal devotion. Their united imagery recalls Mary's intimate participation in the mysteries of her Son's life.

The intricate metalwork, surrounded by the deep tones of Bronzite and contrasting light-colored Our Father beads, gives the rosary a rich and contemplative appearance.

About the Gemstones

Pietersite

Sometimes called the Tempest Stone in the gemstone trade, Pietersite is admired for its dramatic, storm-like patterns of deep blue, golden bronze, reddish brown, and charcoal. Its distinctive appearance comes from complex arrangements of fibrous mineral inclusions within chalcedony, a form of quartz. When light catches these formations, certain areas display a shifting, silky brilliance known as chatoyancy.

Pietersite was first documented in Namibia in 1962 and was later identified in China. Unlike the comparatively orderly bands of Tiger’s Eye, Pietersite often has a fragmented, swirling appearance, making its patterns particularly unpredictable.

Each bead reveals a different arrangement of colors and movement. Some appear nearly black until illuminated, while others display remarkable flashes of gold or blue. This natural variation gives Pietersite its distinctive character.

Bronzite

Bronzite is a brown, iron-bearing variety of enstatite, a mineral belonging to the pyroxene family. Its name comes from the bronze-like metallic shimmer that can appear across its surface, particularly when the stone is polished.

Typically ranging from chocolate brown to deep bronze, Bronzite often contains subtle golden reflections that emerge as the stone moves in the light. Its understated appearance has made it a popular ornamental material for centuries.

This is a beautiful rosary. The workmanship, color of the large stone beads and incredible center piece met my expectations. My only suggestion is that the crucifix is not sized to the large beads and large center piece. It’s too small so the rosary, in my opinion doesn’t look balanced. Increase its size and you’ve got a real winner.
